“Wow! I can’t believe it’s the new year!” You say this every year right? “where did the time go?” or “Time flies when you’re having fun!” But then you think back on last years New Years Resolution Goals and think ‘oh crap, I failed that one!’ or ‘ugh, I have the SAME goal AGAIN’ do you have this conversation every year? I know I do! This year I plan to change that! I did some research and thought long and hard about how to achieve my goals and Set my self up for success, not failure. Now you can too! What am I doing wrong?
Most of us know that the statistics of someone achieving their new years’ resolution is soooo pathetically low. I see that and think But whyyy is it so low? What are so many people doing wrong that they cant achieve a simple goal? That’s it isn’t it? They aren’t setting realistic goals. They are setting unachievable high goals that are just not going to happen. (sorry to break it to you) below are a few helpful tips to be able to set real, achievable, successful Goals for this new year!
Is your goal to have a bunch of money and have savings in the bank? Well, then you need to get a job… This type of goal for someone without a job is not simple. Instead of lots of money being a goal, a better simple goal would be to find a good job place to make more money. Don’t set yourself up for failure. Set your self up for SUCCESS! Be simple and realistic.
Know what you truly want!
Do you really want to lose weight? or do you just want to be more comfortable in your own skin? Many of us always make weight loss a goal. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great goal to have if you really want it. But I know a lot of people that truly just want to be more comfortable in their body, or they just want to be more active. If this is you, instead of losing 20 pounds being your goal maybe try making it feel better in my body. Then try to achieve that by buying clothes that actually fit you. (no one feels good in clothes that are too small) or if you like to be active, instead of lose weight being your goal maybe what you really want is to be more physically active. You can then achieve this goal by making plans for activities that make that happen!(I always suggest Hiking) Whatever your goal is, make sure to take time to think about it and really know what it is you want.
Plan it out
So you have a few goals that you really want, that are simple and real, now what? you have to plan it out. Give yourself steps on how to achieve these goals. If you have a goal to make your relationships better, How are you going to do that? What are the steps needed to achieve that? (phone calls, visits, listening better, forgiving) You need a plan if you want to Succeed. Try thinking it out and coming up with ideas to help you get your goals!
Write it down
Just telling yourself your goal to yourself or to your friend is not going to get the job done. You need to write it down, give yourself reminders (reminders on your phone work really great for this) I have a Free Giveaway that has it all laid out for you.
