My boyfriend wakes me up, and says, “Good morning, what do you want to do today?” I respond, “I don’t care, all I want is to be by the ocean.” So we come up with the idea to go on a bike ride…ohhh waiittt. We don’t have bikes. They got stolen. (ugh) But that wasn’t going to stop us. We called up our friends and told them to meet us in Pacific Beach. We found a place to rent bikes and the guy was super rude and too expensive. Then we found a place on the street back that rented the bike out all day for $15 including the bike, lock, and basket! (awesome) we paid and then we were on our way!
We cruised all the way to the top of PB. The speaker was turned up loud with our chill music playing Check out my friend Julia Naman on iTunes or Spotify! Her music is awesome, chill and perfect to listen to when relaxing. We stopped on the grass area and decided to have a mini picnic. I had packed us all a small lunch with sandwiches and fruit. You know me, always trying to keep it inexpensive. It was great! Music, food, beach, friends.
Once we finished eating we got back on our bikes and just cruised. It was so relaxing and so fun. Even though it was late November, there were still lots of people out having a great time (plenty to people watch). That’s what you get with San Diego. Great weather year round! (Just another reason why I love SanDiego) We ended up riding down all the way to the edge of Mission Beach, just close enough to look over at Ocean Beach to see people playing fetch with their dogs. (Another awesome thing to do in San Diego)
As the sun was setting, we cruised all the way back to the bike rental along the bay. The sky was filled with a cotton candy pink, so beautiful!
If you want to experience San Diego beaches, I highly suggest doing it with a bike ride. It’s an absolute beautiful way to be able to take it all in, get fresh air, and still be apart of the beach scene. If you want to keep it cheap here are some tips!
Keep It Thrifty and Fun!
- Plan ahead! – Pack a lunch/dinner and water in your backpack. I like to use one like this>>>*Click here*
- Don’t forget your portable speaker for music tunes!(I use the JBL flip 3)
- If you are trying to party, bring a flask- there is no need to spend $15 on a drink at a beach bar (be careful though!)
- Look for the cheapest place to rent a bike, or bring your own bike! (Don’t settle for the rude expensive place)
I have noticed that when I plan ahead, I’m usually the most successful in not spending too much money. So whether you are going on a bike ride, going out with your friends or going on a hike, etc., be prepared and plan ahead.
I hope these tips help you get out and enjoy life! It doesn’t have to cost a ton of money, and you can still have a great time. No excuses! There are tons of things to do in San Diego, or wherever you are. I hope this will inspire you to get out there and enjoy this beautiful life we have been given.
